This event will be dedicated to reviewing the action plans of the Action Groups and the Reference Sites Collaborative Network, and especially how these plans are aligned with the European Commission policy activities, notably the "Transformation of health and care in the Digital Single Market" that was announced in the mid-term review of the European Commission's Digital Single Market. Entries for the Access City Award, are now open to any EU city with a population greater than 50,000! The award recognizes the top five EU cities which are the most accessible for people with disabilities and older people, and with the best plan for improving accessibility for 2018. Cities wishing to apply must do so here before September 11, 2017, at midnight (GMT+2).

From October 2-4, 2017, the Age-friendly Cities Conference will be held in The Hague. This conference aims to bring people from around the world together to share experiences and best practices related to age-friendly cities and innovations in healthcare.
The EWRC (European Week of Regions and Cities), held this year in Brussels from October 9-12, will have a workshop on the Silver Economy which will focus on market opportunities for the rights, needs and demands of the elderly population of the EU.
The main three sub-themes of the EWRC this week are:
- Building resilient regions and cities
- Regions and cities as change agents
- Sharing knowledge to deliver results

Each year, the Ambient Assisted Living Programme (AAL) hosts a forum, which features workshops, keynote presentations, and a large exhibition area to offer a platform on the obstacles preventing ICT from being used for active ageing. This year, the forum is in Coimbra, Portugal from October 2-4, 2017. It will bring together professionals, care providers, investers, AAL members and governmental decision makers to try and tackle this issue collaboratively.
Taking place in Lisbon on September 21-22, 2017, the UNECE Ministerial Conference on Ageing will conclude the third review and appriasial cycle (2012-17) of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing and its Regional Implentation Strategy (MIPAA/RIS).
The ministerial and expert panels will examine issues and topics such as:
- promotion of longer working life
- social inclusion and non-descrimination of elderly people
- creating an environment which enables health and independence
- ageing with dignitity
These awards offer an opportunity for public authorities, non-for-profit or for profit organisations to promote their innovations related to ICT (Information and Communications Technology) solutions for European seniors and which support the growth of the European Silver Economy.
The applications have been open since June 8th, 2017, and will close November 15th, 2017.
